MPAA news...

From Box Office Mojo's weekly MPAA ratings update, it appears that Where the Wild Things Are has been given a PG for "mild thematic elements, some adventure action and brief language". For what it's worth, I'm thrilled at the return of the PG rating as a viable choice for filmmakers. For too long we've seen it regulated to pure animated fare and/or family-friendly science fiction franchises, while countless otherwise appropriate films tossed in a random 'f-word' or moment of grotesque violence just to get a PG-13 . Jennifer's Body has been rated R for "sexuality, bloody violence, language and brief drug use". Sorry prurient fans of Megan Fox or Amanda Seyfried, there's apparently no out and out nudity. And the family comedy, Aliens in the Attic has been awarded a PG for "action violence, some suggestive humor and language". So, sorry prurient Ashley Tisdale fans, there's apparently no out and out nudity (I'd settle for her old nose). Fox is screening this one several times over the next two weeks, meaning that it could actually be decent.
