Martin Campbell's Edge of Darkness gets a trailer.

It's no secret that I'm one of Martin Campbell's biggest fans. Goldeneye and Casino Royale are two of my favorite James Bond films and The Mask of Zorro is both the best action film of the 1990s and my all-time favorite superhero film. So I'm going to ignore the somewhat generic trailer and somewhat generic premise, acknowledging that it is in fact a remake of Campbell's own 1985 British miniseries. The somewhat distracting accent aside, Gibson is certainly giving fans what they theoretically want: a very mad Mel who plows through the movie with righteous indignation. And cheers for giving Gibson someone as bad-ass as Ray Winstone to play off of. The big question is whether I should track down the original version of this story prior to the January 29th release date, or whether I should just wait and be surprised by this remake. Either way, it's good to see Mr. Campbell back in action.
