The Summer in Box Office... weekend by weekend.

I'll eventually get around to doing a rundown of the 2009 summer movie season, but since certain children are now getting by without a nap, it might take a bit before I find the time. In the meantime, here is every single weekend box office wrap-up I wrote from May 3rd until August 30th. Enjoy.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine kicks off summer 2009
Star Trek returns the series to the top ranks of franchises.
Angels & Demons avoids the Tomb Raider Trap
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian defeats Terminator: Salvation
Up starts with a $21 million Friday (no different news from Friday to Sun, so no weekend wrap)
The Hangover shocks and starts its endless summer.
Taking of Pelham 123 opens well while Imagine That tanks.
The Proposal nearly doubles Sandra Bullock's previous best opening weekend.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen bluffs its way to a $200 million five-day opening.
Transformers 2 beats Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Public Enemies opens well on July 4th weekend.
Bruno opens well, but proves heavily frontloaded.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince scores a $158 million five-day take.
G-Force opens on top while The Ugly Truth opens well and Orphan does ok.
Funny People opens with $23 million.
GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra scores $54 million, defying critics and entitled bloggers.
District 9 scores great reviews, $37 million.
Inglourious Basterds scores good reviews, $38 million.
Final Destination 3D and Halloween II go head to head. Why oh why didn't someone flinch?

And that's summer 2009 for you, one weekend at a time.
