a must read. I won't deny that there is something incredibly disheartening about watching one of your professional idols, someone who represents the inarguable pinnacle of a given profession, soldering on after his body has long since betrayed him. It's not the first time we've bared witness to such a thing, as fans of Richard Pryor and Muhammad Ali can attest. But it's a sobering reminder that no matter what you achieve and how much you accumulate, we're all going out pretty much the same way and arguably to the same place.
