Although I disagree with Iron Man 2 being classified as "break the mold" type of film, I can see why you included it. And, when talking about Hulk, it has always been my opinion that the movies main problem is an inconsistent tone. Like you said, it's a psychological drama but the comic book editing makes things seem childish and campy. But like I said, good postRicknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6937848248469121586.post-25376056689293669102012-04-21T09:15:45.457-07:002012-04-21T09:15:45.457-07:00Maybe the fact that Superman gave up his powers in...Maybe the fact that Superman gave up his powers in Superman II and everything went to hell and everyone is begging for his return to save them would make him arrogant enough to think if he left he would always be welcomed back with open arms.Michaelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6937848248469121586.post-88095288105949507132012-04-21T08:41:35.846-07:002012-04-21T08:41:35.846-07:00Wonderful write up, Scott. Thanks for shedding light on Superman Returns and Hulk, even if I think they're a bit better than you think.

Iron Man 2 is such an interesting case because I agree with the boldness of a superhero sequel that's essentially all talk. I mean, I like the idea that Tony can't deal with the fact that he's dying and that he can't solve the problem. That's an interesting way to go with it. But, the logic gaps that you pointed at in your initial review of the film sink the film.

I mean, Tony makes a big speech about legacy and changing for the future, which is in character with how we left him at the end of the first picture. But, when he actually discovers something that could potential change lives for the better...a new energy source, he keeps it for himself, which is in direct contradiction to his opening speech. Still stuns me that nobody picked up on how bad that looks for the character.corysimsnoreply@blogger.com
